About
Matty was a tennis player from the UK who trained and competed all around Europe. In 2005 he moved into coaching and coached 9 British champions and then relocated to Spain to work with players overseas. As well as working with players in the top 100 in the world he begun mentoring some of the countries best juniors and coaches.
In 2013 Matty opened the largest padel tennis venue in UK called Padel Nation. He then moved to Australia in 2015 to launch padel there opening Padel Sydney with Matt Barrelle. Padel is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and Matty is the highest ranked player in Australia, reaching 46 in the FIP world rankings and is the current coach of the Men’s and Ladies Australian national team.
Matty’s role is now helping grow and develop padel in Australia and has helped with the set up and running of Padel Sydney, Padel Gold Coast and One Padel Melbourne. He also has supported Indoor Padel Club in Sydney opening and with coaching and is activating the court at the Australian Open for Tennis Australia in 2022. Matty runs the Australian Coaching qualifications and has trained the coaches in Sydney, Gold Coast and Melbourne.
There are also two tennis training venues that run in Bondi Beach and Pottsville Beach. Train at Bondi focuses on adults wanting to learn the game, play socially and also compete. Train at Pottsville is a club programme which caters for development and performance players for both juniors and adults.
Matty also runs monthly activities with the goal of bringing people together to develop local community. These can involve soccer and table tennis socials as well as going to sporting events, live music, boat parties and charity events.
